Gonzalez / Reporter All right Vikings, it’s a start to a new semester and Intramurals Director Ryan Murphy is challenging all students and faculty members to participate once again in the 100-mile challenge. This being only his fourth semester being the intramurals director, Murphy felt it was time to add a few interesting prizes to the challenge. “Anyone can join throughout the semester, all the way to Dec. 3, all they have to do is come by the Kinesiology Building and pick up a log sheet and record their progress,” Murphy said.…

Goal: Dodge elimination

Six teams entered but two dominated the whole thing. Every team had a minimum of six players on the field, having to win best out of three for six rounds. Every game had the crowd on their feet from the start, though some teams were favored to take it all, like team MOB, other teams like the Average Joes and Regulators made it difficult for them. Essay contest offers scholarships as prizes

By Victor Rhodes / Reporter Del Mar Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) and the Vikings Alumni Association are putting together an essay contest scholarship this fall semester. Almost $2,000 in prize money will be awarded to winners. The scholarship contest is an opportunity for students to explain how Introductory Algebra concepts are useful in non-math courses and how they help in non-math classes. “The essay contest started this fall,” said Maththew David Perry, associate professor of English and QEP coordinator. “The QEP for the college is starting its fourth year.” The submitted essays must be around 300 to 500 words. Math lab for more than math majors

Del Mar College makes it a goal to give everyone the opportunity to make the best grade possible. One resource is the Math Learning Center, where students can receive assistance in classes including Remedial Math, Algebra, Calculus I, Calculus II, Physics and Chemistry.
