Campus bookstore holds toy, book drive

Kira Hays / Associate editor The Del Mar College Bookstore took part in the fourth annual National Student Day by hosting a toy and book drive. National Student Day is a program for college bookstores around the country to show appreciation to students who volunteer or participate in community service. At the Del Mar College Bookstore, students made donations for toys for patients at Driscoll Children’s Hospital during the week of September 15-26. During this time, the bookstore raised money to purchase toys for the children at Driscoll. Communications Lab open to all

Not everyone can make a crowd silent with their words, but with the help provided by the Communications Lab, students at Del Mar College can have that chance to make a lasting impression. The Communications Lab, also known as the REC Center, is open to the whole community and offers help in speech assignments and outlines for presentations, and even helps students on how to present themselves for an interview. Herrera and Robert Kaiser took place on Oct. 8 at Richardson Performance Hall. The lecture was sponsored by the DMC Cultural Programs Committee. Museum hosts ’60s themed party

Amber Quaid / Managing editor  The Art Museum of South Texas is hosting a night of rock ’n’ roll entertainment for adults only. Costumes, live music and 1960s-themed appetizers are all part of this year’s Night at the Museum event. Will Vogt’s exhibit of rock ’n’ roll photos of Bob Dylan, Elvis, the Beatles and others will be open for viewing.
