The Del Mar Master Chorus and guest vocalists from Veterans Memorial, Moody and Flour Bluff high school held their fall showcase on Oct. 1 in the Wolfe Recital Hall.
The chorus performed Michael Daugherty’s “Mount Rushmore,” a four-movement piece that was inspired by the famous sculpture in South Dakota.
The fall showcase was conducted by Greg Graf and accompanist Frank Vulpi.
The Del Mar College Counseling Center hosted Go Team Therapy Dogs at all campuses in preparation for finals season. The Go Team Therapy Dogs are a nonprofit organization whose mission is to have handler-dog teams offer relief, care and assistance to those in need. The dogs visited all Del Mar campuses from Nov. 28-30, allowing all students to interact with the dogs and participate in the activities. “The dogs help decrease anxiety, stress, relax your heart rate, which provides more of a relaxing atmosphere for the students,” said Go Team member Lisa Olmos. The Del Mar College Cosmetology Program will be hosting Guest Day on at the Windward Campus for cosmetology students to gain hands-on experience in the field. All services are free in exchange for donations of nonperishable food items. “Students can invite family and friends to provide services for, and all we ask is for donations that will be donated to the Coastal Bend Food Bank,” said Sandra Shelton-Flinn, assistant professor of cosmetology.
