Kicking off the holiday season

Del Mar College Intramurals came to an end Nov. 30 with their last event of the season, 5-on-5 indoor soccer. The players could pick their teams but many chose to group up with the same teammates from previous intramurals events. This event lasted three days and had about four rounds each day. On the tournament’s last day, the first two games were eight minutes each with a minute and a half break. The Home team whipped up 11 points in the first set while the visitors put up 2. Two new teams crowned champions

There were about four teams that played against one another all week to battle it out before the big game. Usually it was two teams made up of Collegiate students and two teams made up of Del Mar students. Oftentimes, they would work together to fully engage in the rivalry. Brian Martinez, a senior who plays football every time it is offered, had this to say about the game, said his team played well as a unit. “It was really fun. We were all good teammates and we work as a team,” he said. The rival between all of the classes is an ongoing thing. This is especially true between seniors and juniors. Ultimate Frisbee tourney soars

ccarrillo@foghornnews.com With table tennis, a 5K fun run and an intense Ultimate Frisbee tournament, the past two weeks have been busy for Del Mar College Intramurals. Ultimate Frisbee was played in the gymnasium from Oct. 10-19. On the last day, the players were divided up into four teams and then competed for a spot in the finals. The two teams that ended up going into the final round were The Unknowns and The Upper E. The Unknowns had been undefeated all season and were looking for one final victory on Oct. 19. Intramurals serve up good times

Team Just for Fun came back to beat Team K.P.R. in this year’s kickball tournament on Oct. 2. Team K.P.R. won two games while Team Just For Fun won three. During these five sets, Team K.P.R. was in the lead throughout most of the tournament. However, in the fifth set, Team Just for Fun really lived up to its name.
