When it comes to fresh produce, it’s hard to beat the Southside Farmers Market.  Vendors including Vine Juice Co., No Bullsh*t Beef, Two Happy Healers, Terra Madre Mini Farm and others come together from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday to offer local organic produce.  Amanda Mathews, advertiser for the market and co-owner of Love is a Seed, and her husband have been with the market for five years. Many ignore risks of vaping even as FDA issues warnings As more people turn to vaping, the FDA has increased its scrutiny on the habit, which many have used to successfully quit smoking. Counseling Center always ready to help out students

Coming back from winter break can be stressful, but the Del Mar Counseling Center is reaching out to help students. Tour explores sculpture collection

The All Work and No Clay sculpture tour featured 3-D artistic sculptures from nationwide artists. Del Mar alumna Sarah Pons led the Oct. 18 tour of the Library Sculpture Gallery, on the fifth floor of the White Library. Kenneth Rosier, chairman of the Art & Drama Department, said the tour is the art department’s initial test at the idea of what museums refer to as a docent tour. A docent is when a trained individual guides a tour and explains the depth of an artwork. Rosier said the department is looking out for the interest and response for the tour.…

The magic shuttle bus

With construction occupying the center of East Campus, Del Mar College launched campus shuttles to help students get around campus. Mary Jaubert is a shuttle driver and said she gives rides to about 60 or 70 students a day during a normal eight-hour shift. “You have some that are regulars and it’s almost like I know where they need to go,” Jaubert said. “Sometimes the kids don’t see us, but that’s why we are running two shuttles and are trying to be visible.” Jimmy Knioum Jr., associate director of College Relations, said the shuttles aren’t just for students. “The campus…
