Several honored for helping others

The Disability Services department recently honored five college employees for going the extra mile to help students. Gerald Betty, Alexander Heatherley, Jennifer Oden, Andrea Johnson and Paula Kenney-Wallace were named Advocates of the Year at an Oct. 26 ceremony in Wolfe Recital Hall. “It is an honor to Inspire students,” Betty said, adding that he wants his students to succeed even if they need a little help. You may feel like home is the safest place to be, but 74 percent of all fire deaths take place there, according to the National Fire Protection Association.
