There were seven nominees, including current faculty members and those who have been a part of Del Mar College in the past and are now furthering their achievements beyond our campuses. Each nominee received a signed resolution from the Board of Regents. The Foghorn staff won 25 awards and one scholarship in the contest part of the conference. Competing against four- and two-year schools in the state such as University of Houston, Stephen F. GED students in HVAC classes

  Meagan Falcon Web editor As the oil boom threatens to turn to oil bust across South Texas, Del Mar College is offering a new program to accelerate students who are lacking their General Education Development certificate into a career path where workers are always in demand. The new program enrolls five Del Mar students and allows individuals to take GED and HVAC (Heating, Ventilating and Air Conditioning technology) courses concurrently. G-P, Del Mar expand dual credit program

  Maria Garza Reporter Gregory-Portland ISD and Del Mar College have expanded their dual credit program to provide more opportunities for high school students. Students in the district can now earn enough hours for an associate degree. All dual credit courses are college level, either academically or technical, and can be taken by high school students. The students enrolled in the program will receive high school credit and college credit simultaneously. Gregory-Portland High School has 174 students enrolled in dual credit classes.
