Lunch offered every Wednesday at West Campus Amy Foster / Reporter Every Wednesday the culinary program at Del Mar College’s West Campus opens its door to offer members of the community an inexpensive lunch with restaurant-quality food. The menu on Oct. 1 included baby back ribs, smoked roasted sirloin, quail, macaroni and cheese, a full salad bar, breads and dessert for about $6. Vegan talks to DMC students about converting Lexy Garcia / Reporter Gary Yourofsky has dedicated his life to persuading people to stop murdering animals and become vegans, he told Del Mar College students during a recent visit to East Campus. Animal activism has led to Yourofsky’s arrest in 60 countries and his banishment in five. In recent years, Yourofsky’s lectures received national attention and one became the most viewed speech in Israel. Parking permits are required on all vehicles

Samantha Douty / Reporter With the excitement of a new semester, students may not remember to get a parking permit. Del Mar College policy states that students’ vehicles must have a visible parking pass on the rear windshield, and that violators can be issued a fine. “The purpose of the parking passes is to recognize who the vehicle belongs to,” said Kelly White, director of Environmental, Health, Safety and Risk Management. “For instance, if a student’s vehicle is broken into the school can then trace the student who owns the vehicle because of the parking permit and the corresponding student ID…

Students discuss, celebrate Constitution Day on campus

Tera Elwell / Web editor Sept. 17 was National Constitution Day and the Del Mar College Student Government Association celebrated by hosting “Free Speech and Civility” in the Harvin Center, complete with free pizza, soda and a welcoming environment for students, faculty and staff to voice their opinions on chosen subjects. In honor of Constitution Day, all educational institutions receiving federal funding are required to hold an educational program pertaining to the U.S. Constituion.
