Treasures on the 5th floor

by Amber Quaid / Reporter Chris Tetzlaff-Belhasen, Director of Libraries, said the fifth floor of the William F. White Library holds a “hidden little treasure”. This treasure room contains 42 sculptures that have been collected for over thirty years from the Del Mar National Art Shows. Last year’s gallery expansion added an additional room to help display the growing sculpture collection. The artwork is set up in an art gallery style with certain pieces plexiglassed to protect the fragile artwork. You play ball like a girl!

By Kira Hays / Reporter  “You’re killing me Smalls!” Guessing which movie the Corpus Christi Ride-In Theater chose for this month’s screening shouldn’t be hard to figure out after hearing that famous quote. On March 28, the classic baseball family comedy, “The Sandlot,” will be shown at the Watergardens. As the new kid in town, Scotty Smalls wants nothing more than to make friends. Wanting to learn how to play baseball to impress his stepdad, Scotty turns to the town’s best baseball player, Benny “The Jet” Rodriguez, for help.

Outright ban would go too far

Editorial On February 26 the Student Government Association held a topic discussion on whether or not smoking on campus should be banned. Although the faculty voted unanimously for a smoke/tobacco free campus, students were split on the decision. According to a group known as Americans for Nonsmokers’ rights, as of January 2 1,182 college campuses and universities have adopted smoke-free policies.
