The Del Mar College physical therapy class pulled out all of their funky moves at their zumbathon fundraiser March 9 in the Retama Room inside the Harvin Center to raise money to attend a state conference in October. The battle to eat healthy on a budget is ongoing. Most people are under the assumption that to partake in a nutritional menu is costly. It does not have to be. Zumba classes heat up at Del Mar

The Kinesiology Department is hosting Zumba and yoga classes for all Del Mar College employees. Classes are offered weekly and are a part of the department’s efforts to increase health and wellness among DMC employees. “We’re trying to get people to be more aware of their lifestyle and to get them moving more,” said Judy Phillips, Kinesiology Department chairwoman. “Healthy employees make for a better work environment.” According to Phillips, for the program to continue, more people must attend the classes.
