There is nothing more satisfying than accomplishing one of your goals. For Jeff Gutierrez, one of Del Mar’s most accomplished students, making it to the World International Triathlon Union (ITU) Grand Final in Chicago is one goal he never thought he would finally reach. Gutierrez, who originally hoped to become a firefighter, returned to school to earn his associate degree in fire science and improve his chances of landing a job. Vikings should be open to quidditch

  Samantha Douty Managing editor One of the more interesting raves among larger universities is the incorporation of quidditch, the Harry Potter series sport, now being played by students. Students are using the sport as a fun and unique way to get together with friends to be competitive against other students at different universities. Del Mar College’s intramural sports program should follow the example of the larger schools and create a quidditch team. Quidditch at Del Mar will bring more students to campus to play with friends. The not-so-good news: We’ve proven that journalists and math aren’t the best off friends, as we grossly miscalculated our goal for this semester in our last issue.
