IceRays win 1, lose 1 to start season

Corpus Christi’s hockey team, the IceRays, opened their season with two home games against the El Paso Rhinos. The teams met at the American Bank Center for the season-starting bout on Sept. 23 and 24. The first game started out shaky, with Rhinos forward Tory Lund scoring a goal by the end of the first period. New champions crowned in womens, mens 1v1 basketball tournament

The 1v1 basketball tournament was an exhilarating set of matches that took place throughout late March, with a new champion being crowned in both the men’s and women’s division. After the first day of eliminations, four men remained in what turned out to be a very evenly matched battle; Jesiah Montes, or better known as Jay, took on Andres in a best 2 of 3 to reach the championship. 3v3 Basketball, Jayhawks rise as undefeated champions

The 3v3 championship was a battle between two very different teams. The Geeks and Sneaks were comprised of all free agents who didn’t know each other before the tournament, while the Jayhawks were a group of three friends who added a substitute at the beginning of the tournament. The chemistry they had may have been the difference between the Jayhawks and most teams as they managed to pull away in both games, winning 11-7 and 11-10 to become the champions while also maintaining a perfect 8-0 record throughout the tournament. Geeks and Sneaks, Jayhawks set to meet up in championship match Eight teams battled it out for a shot at the 3v3 basketball championship. Intramurals skates into new semester

With students rolling into the spring semester, the Intramurals Department rolled out a Welcome Back Bash at Sk8land in Annaville on Feb. 6. Carla Gamez-Vela, the new director of intramurals, organized the event, which included snacks, games and prizes. Del Mar students skated for about two hours.
