The grand reopening of the Del Mar College Student Hub will be at noon Feb. 29 in the Coleman Student Center on West Campus. Formerly known as the Palmetto Room, the Student Hub will feature study rooms and will allow students to learn about the services and resources offered by the college. SGA plans to take a look at on-campus security issues

With the on-campus smoking ban now in effect, the Del Mar College Student Government Association is turning its focus to the issue of campus safety and security. The shift comes after two on-campus security scares in the fall semester as well as new legislation permitting handguns in college classrooms. “The biggest concern at this time is campus safety because of laws that are being passed about the carrying of guns on campus,” said SGA President Ericha Kemm. “We want people to know what’s going on before it starts. Del Mar College Physical Therapist Assistant student Adrian Cantu was nominated and elected as the Texas PTA Student Delegate during a recent state physical therapy conference. Twenty-one PTA students from Del Mar traveled to Arlington to attend the Texas Physical Therapy Association conference Oct. 22-25. “It’s a great organization that advocates for physical therapy,” Cantu said. “While I was there I attended classes, met employers and longtime professionals, and went to meetings that opened my eyes to different aspects of physical therapy.” Cantu was elected as the Texas PTA Student Delegate from a group of his peers, as well as…

The Collegiate High School Junior Politicians Organization is hosting a public forum that will feature chairpersons from the local Democratic, Green, Libertarian and Republican parties.
