East bests West in Viking Bowl

East Campus came out victorious at this year’s Viking Bowl, a flag football game between the staff at Del Mar College’s East and West campuses. You haven’t lived until you’ve seen your “well-respected” professors get in each other’s face over rule changes during a flag football game, and that happened often at the Nov. 20 game, played on West Campus. There were festivities leading up to the game such as the punt, pass and kick competition, and the two campuses faced off in a game of tug of war at halftime. The game started out with no scoring from either…

“Michael Jordan The Life” may be one of the most interesting and in-depth biographies ever written. Author Roland Lazenby goes to great lengths to be as detailed and thorough as possible. Thomas then goes into the struggles that USC faced in the 1990s and how the hiring of Pete Carroll in 2000 was faced with much criticism from the media because he was a failed NFL coach who had never coached college. The documentary then begins to focus on three players, Matt…

Flour Bluff football season a lackluster one

Friday night lights came to an end Nov. 6. No, I don’t mean the movie or TV series. I’m talking about the Friday night lights that took place every Friday at Flour Bluff High School this football season. The Flour Bluff Hornets needed to win, and they needed a loss by either the Victoria East Titans or the Gregory Portland Wildcats. Flour Bluff beat the Alice Coyotes 27-21, but they didn’t get the loss they needed so their season end- ed in disappointment. Gabriel Myers/Foghorn The Flour Bluff Hornets rush onto the field to kick off their game against the…
