IceRays win 1, lose 1 to start season

Corpus Christi’s hockey team, the IceRays, opened their season with two home games against the El Paso Rhinos. The teams met at the American Bank Center for the season-starting bout on Sept. 23 and 24. The first game started out shaky, with Rhinos forward Tory Lund scoring a goal by the end of the first period. Luckily, IceRays forwards Pierson Sobush and Mathieu Bourgault responded in kind with a goal apiece in the second period before the Rhinos tied it back up. Rush Week offers chance to connect with other students

The Harvin Center’s main lobby will be hosting Club Rush Week from Sept. 18-22. “Club Rush Week is the week that we recruit students to join the different clubs we have here on campus,” said Grace Carreon with Student Leadership and Campus Life. “Whatever club that interests them, they can just speak to the members and see what their needs are.” Clubs are not the only groups that students are open to joining, however. “We also have the Student Government Association that they can join,” Carreon said. Art Walk turns its focus to live music

Visitors to September’s Art Walk noticed a big change in how the monthly festival looked — and sounded. Traditionally dubbed Art Walk, September’s installation, called Music Walk, saw an emphasis on live music. The change went over well with some patrons. “Despite the weather, it was really enjoyable,” attendee Mia Galvan said. “Especially because this month was more music-based so there was live music everywhere.” Fellow attendee David Leonard agreed. “There was more music,” Leonard said. “And that’s good.” However, it seems that the local businesses took a backseat to give the music center stage. “There wasn’t really much this…
