Cody Bahn/Managing Editor Del Mar College held a commemorative ceremony last week, remembering the tragic events of September 11, 2001. On September 8 and September 9, Del Mar staff and students gathered at each campuses peace pole for the ceremonies. Each ceremony was opened by the representation of the American flag by the Department of Public Safety and Education Color Guard. DMC Scholarships

Dina Ruiz / Staff Reporter The deadline for DMC Foundation Scholarship applications for Spring 2012 is Thursday. The Foundation is no longer accepting paper applications; students must complete applications via the new STARS Online application website. Emergency scholarship applications will still be accepted in paper form. “An emergency scholarship is awarded to students who are put in a unplanned situation that has caused them to use the funds they had set aside to pay for books or for the rest of their tuition,” said Joel Soliz, assistant director of Foundation Services. “We are trying to make a lot of changes…

NAACP sponsors health fair at Del Mar College

Kelsey Heatley / Assistant Managing Editor The National Association Advancement of Colored People, and Del Mar College are holding a health fair clinic on September 17th from 10 a.m to 3 p.m at the Del Mar College West Campus. Terry Mills, president of the NAACP for the past three years, is excited for the city’s health fair. “This is the third health fair we’re holding and to help people get informed about their health is our goal,” Mills said.
