KadabraCon takes over Corpus Christi once again

The multi-genre fandom convention KadabraCon returned to Corpus Christi on Sept 26-28. What was touted as bigger and better than last year’s offering ended up being on par with, or even below the previous year’s offerings. Events scheduled throughout the weekend included an opening ceremony, anime trivia, dance competitions, Q&A sessions, and even a watch party for “Knights of Guinevere.” There was a haunted house on the show floor, complete with a fog machine and sound effects, in addition to a gaming area that hosted multiple tournaments. Anime Corpus Christi returned for their third consecutive year the weekend of Feb. 7-9. For the fans of anime or pop culture, the event not only had a stacked lineup with talent from series like “Death Note,” “Dragon Ball Z,” “One Piece” and many more with plenty of merchandise and unique offerings, sure to please those who experienced it all. Upon entering visitors were greeted with a dedicated booth of staff members welcoming you in, handing out passes and pamphlets with information for special guests, events and more. Magical weekend includes hiccups

KadabraCon 2024 ran earlier this month on Oct. 4-6, its second year as a convention in the South Texas pop culture and anime scene. With many pop-ups and advertisements promoting the event, this year’s turnout was expected to surpass the previous year’s effort by a large margin. Expectations were set high with a stacked list of special guests including the full cast of “The Amazing Digital Circus” alongside voice actors from properties like “JuJutsu Kaisen” and “Genshin Impact,” in addition to a live performance by musical artist Beomhan.
