Del Mar offers many different services to students each semester for free or at a low cost. All of these services are offered at the Heritage Campus with some extending to Windward and Oso Creek as well. Here are a few services offered to students. Following the resignation of Linda Villarreal, Del Mar College’s Board of Regents is looking to fill a now vacant at-large seat. The vacancy of Villarreal’s at-large seat was formally announced Jan. 4 on the DMC website and applications for the position opened the same day. Villareal, who was appointed to the board in 2021, resigned after accepting a dean position at Texas A&M University-Kingsville. Her resignation was accepted by the board on Dec. 13 and went into effect Jan. 1. Cultural Programs presents retired pilot Lt. Col. Olga E. Custodio, “Lessons from the Flight Deck: Overcoming Doubt/Imposter Syndrome,” Feb. 8 at the Richardson Performance Hall. Custodio completed U.S. Air Force Undergraduate Pilot Training and graduated in the top 5 percent in her class with fighter qualifications. She went on to fly the T-38 as an instructor. After Custodio ended her military career, she went on to fly for American Airlines. While the challenges of overseeing the college may change over the years, President Mark Escamilla’s goal has been constant since he took the reins in 2008: to see every student reap the benefits and grow as a result of their time at Del Mar.
