The Cain National Art Show opened its 59th year with a selection of 66 curated works centered around identity and how it influences the world. The juror for this year’s gallery, Alejandro Macias, is a Texas native out of Brownsville and Assistant Professor of Painting and Drawing at the University of Arizona. Macias had the responsibility of curating the displayed artworks out of the 1,020 submissions from across the country, 34 of which were from artists in Texas. Frustrated Corpus Christi residents showed up for a Feb. 18 listening session hosted by the Corpus Christi water department to hear about proposed updates to the city’s drought plan and voice their concerns over water usage, particularly regarding high-volume water use by out-of-town industries. While the session was intended to gather input on drought management, the majority of speakers voiced frustration with the city’s ongoing relationship with major out-of-town industries that use large quantities of water. Del Mar College’s Music Department will be inducting members to the new Music Hall of Fame today, March 3, at 6 p.m. on the third floor of the General Academic and Music Building A, followed by the Music Honors Recital at 7:30 p.m. at Wolfe Recital Hall, Heritage Campus. On day one of his presidency Donald Trump enacted sweeping reform to immigration via executive orders. Since then, there has been mass deportation and detention of illegal immigrants in the United States. “There’s a lot of changes in the wrong direction in this country and it’s just really scary. Del Mar College kicked off its year-long 90th anniversary celebration with the grand re-opening of the Memorial Classroom Building on the Heritage Campus on Feb. 6. The event included the unveiling of a Texas State Historical Marker from the Texas Historical Commission, followed by a tour of the renovated building. Built in 1942, the Memorial Classroom Building was the first permanent structure on the campus of Corpus Christi Junior College (CCJC), which later became Del Mar College (DMC). For decades, it housed many of the college’s core classes, serving as the academic heart of the institution during its early years.…

Del Mar College’s Oso Creek Campus has brought back the popular culinary classes called “Secrets of the Chef!” during the 2025 Spring semester. According to Franny Jackson, Program Manager for Continuing Education, these classes are a collection of favorites from the Fall semester but also include new styles of cooking suggested by students.
