Corpus Christi Swings Again: Texas Jazz Festival Celebrates 64 years of Free Music and community
The sounds of saxophones, drums, and a lot of laughter will once again fill Heritage Park this weekend as Corpus Christi hosts the 64th annual Texas Jazz Festival, the longest-running free jazz festival in the country. Founded in 1959 by members of Del Mar College’s Jazz Club, the event began as a small campus concert, but then quickly grew into a citywide tradition celebrating the culture and creativity of jazz music. DMC Music Department setting seasonal mood with ‘Holiday Spectacular’
College Relations / Del Mar College Free annual concert features ensemble performances and sing-alongs for an evening of musical memories for all ages The thought of sleigh bells and snow is not typical of South Texas. During the Del Mar College Music Department’s “Holiday Spectacular,” audience members can expect some winter wonderland memories and a few surprises. Women engineers – making the impossible possible
Meagan Falcon / Reporter It has always been difficult being a woman in a male-dominated society, but times are definitely changing as women are becoming the new faces of engineering, and engineering industries in both private and military sectors are looking for women in particular. Del Mar College hosted the event Women in Engineering on Nov. 5 in the Venters Building.
