CAIN National Show celebrates 60 years of artwork

The CAIN National Spring Art Show is returning to Del Mar College this semester, marking 60 years of the nationally recognized exhibition. Founded in 1966 by Joseph A. Cain, the CAIN National was created to bring professional artwork from across the country to Del Mar College. Each year a guest juror from outside the region selects artwork from hundreds of submissions, providing students with exposure to diverse artistic styles and curatorial perspectives. Vo-Tech Institute to Windward Campus: a ‘West’ side story

Del Mar College’s West Campus, also known as the Windward Campus, opened in September 1958 to help meet Corpus Christi’s growing need for vocational and technical training. The expansion came as the East Campus became overcrowded and risked losing accreditation due to its large student population. The decision to build a second campus on Old Brownsville Road allowed Del Mar to move programs such as industrial trades, health sciences, and automotive technology into their own space. Del Mar College will host an All Majors Skills & Trades Career Fair on Wednesday, Nov. 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Emergency Training Building (Dome) at the Windward Campus, offering students and community members an opportunity to connect with employers from a wide range of industries. Del Mar Dental Hygiene Clinic Serves Community While Training Future Professionals

Free dental services at Del Mar College have supported Corpus Christi residents for more than 50 years while preparing students for careers in dental hygiene. The program provides free preventative dental care to about 2,500 people each year at the Windward campus, combining education with service. Supervised by licensed instructors, students perform services such as cleanings, X-rays, fluoride treatments, sealants, oral cancer screenings, and even blood pressure checks. Each appointment is part of the clinical training, with visits typically lasting three hours. Corpus Christi Swings Again: Texas Jazz Festival Celebrates 64 years of Free Music and community

The sounds of saxophones, drums, and a lot of laughter will once again fill Heritage Park this weekend as Corpus Christi hosts the 64th annual Texas Jazz Festival, the longest-running free jazz festival in the country.   Founded in 1959 by members of Del Mar College’s Jazz Club, the event began as a small campus concert, but then quickly grew into a citywide tradition celebrating the culture and creativity of jazz music.
