SGA gets creative with outreach

When Del Mar went virtual in spring 2020, the closures impacted the way students were able to interact with one another and altered the college community experience. Baldwin should share the blame in death

Details continue to emerge weeks after the accidental shooting involving actor Alec Baldwin in Albuquerque, New Mexico, bringing new questions to light. What we know is that on Oct. 21, cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was fatally wounded on the set of Baldwin’s movie “Rust” after the actor pointed a “prop gun” at the camera lens and fired. Director Joel Souza was also wounded. We know that after preparing the set that morning, including checking props, there was a break for lunch, and everyone was shuttled off set for food. Food pantry sees demand rise

More students seeking assistance from Viking Food Pantry this semester  The Viking Food Pantry is on pace to distribute over 20,000 pounds of food this semester to Del Mar students, according to its director. In its first year of operation in 2019, the pantry only served 15 students but that changed once Travis Collingsworth, a social work major at Texas &M University–Kingsville and DMC alumnus, came to the program. “They didn’t have a full-time pantry person,” Collingsworth said. “As soon as I got here, we had a 200 to 300% increase. Del Mar unveils new logo, more

Campuses also receive new names as part of rebranding effort After less than a decade, Del Mar College has a new look, as well as new names for its campuses. Part of the rebranding includes an updated logo and tagline. The new logo has a wave underneath the DMC brand. The second part of the process was the renaming of the campuses to Heritage, Windward and Oso Creek, formerly East, West and South campuses, respectively.
