Looking to study during the break??

Katie Babbitt kbabbitt@foghornnews.com For those who don’t want to fall behind during spring break, the Whit Library on East Campus might be the perfect quiet spot to study. Quieter, even, than normal. While the library usually sees anywhere from 300-400 students on an average day, fewer tend to visit during spring break. Gabriel Franco, a second-year work study student in the White Library, said no more than 40 students show up each day over the break. It is “basically dead. Students could use the library more,” he said. All services at the White Library including study rooms and computer labs…

Several honored for helping others

The Disability Services department recently honored five college employees for going the extra mile to help students. Gerald Betty, Alexander Heatherley, Jennifer Oden, Andrea Johnson and Paula Kenney-Wallace were named Advocates of the Year at an Oct. 26 ceremony in Wolfe Recital Hall. “It is an honor to Inspire students,” Betty said, adding that he wants his students to succeed even if they need a little help. Heatherly said he enjoys seeing students reach their full potential. “It is an honor to inspire students,” Heatherly said. The department has served more than 600 students this year, a 9 percent increase…
