Dental program seeks patients

The Del Mar College Dental Hygiene Clinic needs volunteers for the Dental Hygiene Program. The program provides patients with dental hygiene services at no cost. Students in the program perform services such as oral screenings, teeth cleaning, and more.   Students are supervised by the faculty of the program during the process. Lots to do at National Seashore

Anyone looking to enjoy a safe beach experience this spring break should check out the Padre Island National Seashore. The national park starts at the northern end of Padre Island and runs about 65 miles down the coast where it ends at the Port Mansfield Channel.   The Padre Island National Seashore consists of multiple beaches with different activities to take part in. Some of those activities besides swimming include beachcombing, bicycle riding, birdwatching, and fishing. VITA program offering free tax filing services

Assistance available to households with income of $60,000/year or less Tax season is here, and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program is offering free income tax filing assistance at the Del Mar College Heritage Campus.  Del Mar’s VITA lead coordinator Adelfino Palacios Jr. said the DMC location has been doing this for almost 20 years. Recreation center expands hours for fall

Nursing students to hold dementia tour

Nursing assistant students in Del Mar’s continuing education program will help people experience what it is like to have dementia through the use of special goggles, shoes and headphones on Feb. 24. The virtual dementia tour was an annual event before the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Donna Huddleston, lead nurse planner at the Center for Economic Development.
