Del Mar College’s Dental Hygiene Clinic Services is offering free cleanings through mid-December to anyone who qualifies.          For more than 50 years, the dental program has given back to its community while also giving its students hands-on learning opportunities.   Starting Sept. 9, the dental program is providing free services to qualified applicants. The services include medical history review, blood pressure screening, intra-oral examination, dental preliminary assessment, periodontal assessment, education on oral dental hygiene, oral cancer screening, radiographs, fluoride treatments as needed, selective polishing, conservative periodontal therapy, dental hygiene therapy, and dental sealants.   “It’s free of charge and it helps…

The Culinary Arts Program Offers Gourmet Lunch Services to the Public at Del Mar College’s Oso Creek Campus.  Del Mar College’s Oso Creek Campus is offering a weekly lunch service to the public, prepared by students in the Culinary Arts Program.  The service takes place every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on the first floor of the Hospitality and Culinary Institute at the Oso Creek Campus.  According to Jennifer Sramek, Dean of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Health Sciences, “Meals are available to the first 100 guests on a limited basis, with a maximum of two to-go meals per person.” …

Students come together to memorialize beloved campus cats

Some call him Jovi or Chaplin others may call him Kitler. But whatever name he answered to, the loss of the black-and-white cat has been felt all over campus. His body was found by Del Mar College staff on the morning of Sept. 23 next to the Harvin Center. His death is not the first, as two other cats were found dead on campus in recent weeks. Leaks and subsequent mold growth in rooms in the Fine Arts Center has for months gone untreated and led to the closure of areas meant to serve the students.In addition, the heating and air conditioning system meant to prevent such problems is nearly four decades old. Cooking classes offered at Oso Creek Campus

Del Mar College’s Oso Creek Campus is offering a new cooking course, “Secrets of the Chef!” during the Fall semester. According to, Franny Jackson, Program Manager for Continuing and Community Education, the beginner-friendly class explores a variety of world cuisines, with each session focusing on a different culinary style.  “It’s our commitment to the community to offer fun, personal enrichment classes. The Del Mar College Art Department held the opening reception for the “Texas Photography Society 32: The International Competition” exhibition on Friday, Sept. 20 in the Cain Art Gallery located at the Fine Arts Center in Del Mar’s Heritage Campus. The event was free and open to the public. It was an open-juried exhibition that featured 49 photographs that had been selected by Juror Maria Beatriz H. Professor Frederick’s farewell production imminent

Del Mar’s very own Kim Fredrick will be retiring with his last show as a drama professor. Fredrick, a cherished figure in the drama department, is orchestrating the special production as a farewell to his long and impactful career. Professor Bob Long’s heart true to Del Mar Family

Bob Long always believed in being a part of and contributing to his community. In 2022, the community had the opportunity to give back to him. He was raised in the Del Mar area, “I grew up in this neighborhood right here by Del Mar, I went to Lexington Elementary in South Park,” Long explained. Student Success Center and CSEAT host game jam

In collaboration with the Computer Science, Engineering, and Advanced Technology department, the Student Success Center will be hosting Sindri’s Game Forge, a two-week-long game development competition for students. Registration opens on Monday, Sept. 30, and the kick-off event will be held on Monday, Oct 7. The game jam is open to both individuals and teams of up to three participants, and offers a separate category for AI-assisted projects.
