Student Aaron Estrada had to remain calm as an elevator technician worked to free him. “Can the doors cut me in half?” Estrada asked as the doors were cracked open on the third floor of the White Library. The elevator was stuck between the third and fourth floors of the library on Del Mar College’s East Campus on March 23, with Estrada alone inside. “At first I was rattled,” Estrada said. “I couldn’t believe it was happening. The Del Mar College Dental Hygiene Clinic needs volunteers for the Dental Hygiene Program. The program provides patients with dental hygiene services at no cost. Students in the program perform services such as oral screenings, teeth cleaning, and more. Students are supervised by the faculty of the program during the process. These instructors are required to have a bachelor’s degree in dental hygiene as well as clinical experience to teach at the clinic. “In a given year, we provide the community with over half a million dollars of dental hygiene services. Del Mar College’s David Irving, professor of stage band and guitar in the Music Department, was awarded the Robert J. Rogers Lifetime Achievement Award during the Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia 55th national convention in August. Fellow fraternity brother and former national president T.
