Spring break entertainment calendar

From classic rock to metal to rap to country music, fans of live music will have plenty of options for spring break this year.

For those who grew up in the 80s, R.E.O. Speedwagon will bring their hits to the American Bank Center’s Selena Auditorium on March 12. The bands hits include “Keep on Loving You” and “Take it on the Run” among many others.

Also on March 12. Reggae music with Flat Broke at the Black Monk Tavern.

On March 13, the House of Rock presents Soulfly. The band provides hard grinding metal tunes such as “Back to the Primitive” and “Bleed.” Their high intensity brand of music is sure to have your heart pounding. This is an all-ages show.

Thursday, March 17, the House of Rock will have the St. Patrick’s Day Punk Rock Party wirh Up Dog, Oldie Hawn, New Ends and Static Affect.

Old Concrete Street Amphitheatre finishes off the week with two huge shows. On Friday, March 18, Concrete Street presents the Spring Jumpoff, featuring rappers Kevin Gates and Snow Tha Product.

The Black Monk Tavern will have Temptress from Dallas, with openers Switch Blade Jesus and the Southern Revival on March 18

Spring Break on the Coast follows on Saturday, March 20 with headliner Parker McCollum and guests. This show traditionally sells out every year and is sure to do the same in 2022. Both are all-ages shows.

The House of Rock also has a show on Saturday featuring The Chainlinks. This all-ages show is free of charge.

Black Monk Tavern will host Thunderosa from Austin with Grey Bliss and Action (Get Action) on Saturday as well. Sidenote: Action (Get Action) includes DMC History professor Gerald Betty.

  1. I have always love R.E.O. Speedwagon, his role in the anime was always supportive and fun. I think it was really cool when they brought him back in the second part!
