Crowds turned out for the second annual Viking Fest on Saturday, Nov. 15 on Del Mar’s Windward Campus.
The event hosted the 4th annual Dia De Los Muertos Welding Competition, the Viking 5K run, as well as a special music performance from Kat Hasty, demos for programs offered on campus and a carnival with food and prizes for best beard, best braids, and best overall Viking costume contests.
Nicholas Eades, a Math Learning Center tutor at Del Mar participated in the 5K run.
“The main reason I ran is because my coworkers told me to. I also run outside of school, so I decided to support the college I tutor at by running,” said Eades. “I go to the tutoring center, help students, then go home and run for fun.”
Viking Fest was held to showcase the Windward Campus and as a fundrasier for student organizations that were involved with the event. Admission was free, with tickets available to purchase for food and games at the carnival.
