Little people, big fights. For one night only, Eddie’s Tavern held one of the more memorable nights in Corpus Christi this summer.
The local sports bar was filled to maximum capacity for this 21 and older event where wrestling fans gathered in excitement for the tour of MicroMania Wrestling. Each wrestler had their own background story that contributed to the “Hero vs. Villain” perception. The crowd had their favorite wrestlers, and their not-so-favorites, but overall, the characters were so full of enthusiasm, they had a crowd of adults screaming at the top of their lungs.
A fan favorite moment was when the wrestlers asked the audience to come on stage and be a part of the fight. Twenty dollars could get fans smacked by a signed pan from all the wrestlers. Over a dozen attendees took turns getting hit but the real excitement came when the promoters auctioned the chance to be hit by a signed garbage can.
Del Mar College business major Steven Garett and wrestling fan took advantage the free event and had a blast.
“There’s a girl who paid $500 to get hit in the head with the trash can by the wrestlers. It’s probably the coolest thing I saw,” Garett said.
The fight ended with a victory from the crowd’s favorite masked hen “La Gallinita.”
