Gym lights shined bright on the championship game where team Most Hated took down team Lakers 69 to 46.  In the first half Most Hated dominated the Lakers 36 to 19, but after halftime the Lakers proved they were not going to go down without a fight, scoring 17 more points.  Unfortunately for the Lakers they still came up short to the 33 points scored by Most Hated in the second half. As intramurals come to a close this semester, students met during three consecutive days to play the sports Table Tennis, Ultimate Football and Viking of the Court (1 vs. 1 Basketball). Although meeting new people and socializing is a big part of intramural sports there are many other things that it offers. Soccer players kick it in the gym during 4-day tournament Many students who do not usually compete in intramurals stopped by the gym to take part in the four-day 4-on-4 indoor soccer tournament. Two goal posts were set up in the gym as teams did all that they could to rack up more points than their opponents. Makeup artist teaches blood, gore

Professional makeup artist Ava Gibbs-Kamaria visited Del Mar to teach a makeup class and critique students’ zombie effects makeup. The zombie gore workshop was held on Tuesday, Oct. 30 in the Bartlett Theatre. She gave a multitude of advice to the students and shared much of what she has learned while working on movies, television and theater sets. Gibbs-Kamaria has worked with special effects since 1965 in Dallas. She’s worked on musicals including “Les Miserables,” “The Lion King,” “The King and I,” “White Christmas” and more. Football tourney spans 4 days

Football was the theme for intramurals as October drew to a close. Players met on the field to compete in a four-day 5 vs. 5 flag football tournament and the Quarterback Challenge. The flag football tournament consisted of three teams going head to head to see who would come out on top. The tournament began with team White facing off against team Shirts. Team Shirts won and continued on to the final round against team Blue. Team Blue gave it their all but fell short against team Shirt, which took first place in the tournament. Strategic play dominates this game

Mental ability took priority over physical as students played Capture the Flag for Intramurals. “I know everyone says games are like chess and stuff, but this game is definitely like chess. We all have to be in good spots, we have to sacrifice just like in chess. This is really strategic,” student Benito Torrez said of the Oct. 8 competition. Del Mar student uses powerlifting as therapeutic outlet The competition hall becomes dead silent as the people start to disappear from sight, and hours of training come together in one moment. The only thing in Ana Selina Galicia’s mind are three words repeating, “lift, bench, press.” It is only when the weights are back where they started does the rest of the world flow back to her thoughts. The Disney College Program is a college internship that allows participants to live, learn and earn the opportunity to put a world-renowned entertainment company on their resume. Students of any major are free to apply for the chance to work for the mouse. Students give it their all on court

Students of all majors came together to compete against one another over four days in 5-on-5 basketball. Each day consisted of two teams made up of different students each time. In the final game the team sporting black jerseys faced off against the team wearing white jerseys. Unlike past semesters, teams were unnamed.
