White Library grand opening set for April

The grand opening of the William F. White Jr. Library welcomes the community and students to celebrate its latest renovations on Thursday, April 10. After three years of construction, the White Library opened its doors again in January with new facilities and services for students on the Heritage Campus. Students learn about impacts of race and inequalities

Attendees learned the history of desegregation at Del Mar College in the 1950s along with other discussions of racial issues at the “Race Matters: An Afternoon on the Subject of Race” symposium hosted by the Social Sciences Department. The symposium held Feb. 26 featured five professors who each spoke on topics about race, including a timeline of the college’s personal history with integration presented by History Professor Mark Robbins. Make your voice count: join Texas Rising at DMC Heritage Campus

Texas Rising’s Del Mar College chapter is hosting a meeting at 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 17 for all students who are interested in social issues like LGBTQIA+ rights, reproductive rights, environmental activism, and immigration. The chapter welcomes students interested in joining meetings and becoming an official member. Founded by the Texas Foundation Network in 2006, the Texas Rising organization has expanded to nearly 25 colleges and universities with the mission to raise political awareness among students.
