Harvey funds are still available

New donation of $95K will allow students to focus on education post-hurricane Hundreds of students affected by Hurricane Harvey have received financial assistance from to the Del Mar College Foundation, and help is still available. Shortly after the Category 4 storm swept through the region in late August, the Coastal Bend Community Foundation donated $100,000 to a special fund set up to help students recover. That, combined with $20,000 from the Texas Association of Community College and another $6,000 in general donations, allowed the foundation to award grants of between $100 and $500 to 294 students. New DMC website has been uploaded

New features, accessibility were added to the site  On Friday before Spring Break, Del Mar’s website got a big update. The fresh look was designed specifically for the students, who often visit the site on their phones. “This is the first time we’ve had an actual responsive mobile version. That’s one of the biggest things for the students. We want to put the Web information right in their hands,” said Claudia Jackson, executive director of community and legislative relations. Vocal Vikings make the rounds

Speech team competed at, hosted events last month The Vocal Vikings, Del Mar’s speech and debate team, had a busy February. Throughout February, the team competed at three tournaments in different cities, while also hosting the local and annual Speech on the Beach. On the first weekend, the team headed to College Station to compete, where team member Katy Babbit earned a fifth place award in poetry.
