What used to be recognized for only one week, Black History Month was expanded to the full month when Gerald Ford asked fellow Americans to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history,” according to the history.com site.
Ramiro Lopez / Staff writer In an effort to stamp out cancer, the American Cancer Society (ACS) is conducting the latest phase of a cancer prevention study that originally began in the mid 1950s. This latest phase, Cancer Prevention Study–3 (CPS-3) is seeking to enroll 300,000 participants nationwide and 500 participants from the Nueces County/Coastal Bend area to take part in this potentially lifesaving study.

Staff Reports / Foghorn With over thirty years of service to Del Mar College’s Financial Aid administration, Enrique “Henry” Garcia, Jr. has been inducted into the Texas Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators Hall of Fame. The annual TASFAA conference was held in Corpus Christi this past October. The honor was presented to Garcia after a presentation in which fellow members of the association shared comments of praise for the new inductee.
