Zumba-thon for a walkathon

Skjar Ramano / Staff editor Saturday September 29, Del Mar College provided a public zumba class to help raise money for this year’s American Heart Walk. The Zumba-A-Thon took place in the Kinesiology Complex (Gym) at Del Mar’s East Campus between 1 and 3 pm which former student and certified gym instructor, Chelsea Schulze, volunteered to instruct. Joyce Salina, Administrative assistant, said the class was a “low key, last minute effort” to help bring in donations.

Campuses begin Viking Games

Devin Tyler / Staff writer This past September, Del Mar College officially revealed their new Spirit Symbol logo. The logo was unveiled and mounted next to the College seal in the North Lobby area of the Harvin Student Center. This Fall semester the Del Mar College Alumni Association is sponsoring a new event called “The Viking Games” to help continue the celebration for the new official Spirit Symbol logo. The Viking Activities will consist of multiple challenges from physical fitness, Flag Football Bowl and a Viking Carnival. Editorial: One hundred percent should be priority

In what was perhaps his most well-articulated and clearly spoken oration to date, presidential candidate Mitt Romney recently captured the attention of media and the public at large after commenting that he didn’t need to be concerned with 47% of the American public. That concern emerged after Romney was caught on hidden camera during a private speech to a group of campaign donors Sept. 18. Romney’s comments triggered feelings of unease throughout America by disregarding a huge percentage of the voter base, and have since destabilized his campaign ground in several swing states.

Pet population piles up

Looking at numbers from studies and surveys taken by various animal welfare organizations help to define the size of the problem. Application deadline for Fall graduation is Oct. 12

Staff Reports / Foghorn Students planning to walk the stage and receive a diploma Dec. 13 must note: the application deadline is fast approaching. A requirement of graduation for the Fall semester is to apply at the Office of Admissions and Registrar on the East or West Campus by Oct 12. Candidates that need to print a PDF version of the application or have questions about graduation including regalia, diplomas and the commencement ceremony click here.
