DMC Music Department setting seasonal mood with ‘Holiday Spectacular’

College Relations / Del Mar College

Free annual concert features ensemble performances and sing-alongs for an evening of musical memories for all ages

The thought of sleigh bells and snow is not typical of South Texas. During the Del Mar College Music Department’s “Holiday Spectacular,” audience members can expect some winter wonderland memories and a few surprises. The free performance is this Thursday, Nov. 29, in the College’s Richardson Performance Hall on the East Campus on Ayers Street.

The event begins with a pre-concert featuring trumpet, flute and low brass ensembles and a piano trio in the lobby. The departmental concert begins at 7:30 p.m. in the main performance hall.

The department will present seasonal pieces performed by faculty and students with the Brass Choir, Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Singers, Clarinet Trio, Concert Band, Concert Choir, Flute Ensemble, Low Brass Ensemble, MWF Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble, Singer’s Theatre, String Quartet and Trumpet Ensemble. Attendees will also have the chance to participate during sing-alongs featuring “Joy to the World,” “White Christmas,” “Deck the Hall” and “Silent Night.”

Who knows? Maybe Santa will show up.
