Planning committee seeks input from Del Mar students Eddie Puente / Associate editor The Student Strategic Planning Committee held a forum on Nov. 14 at the White Library and invited all students to voice their opinions and concerns. Titled “Access to Excellence, Del Mar College Strategic Plan for 2014-2019,” this forum was presented to enable students to take part in the planning of the college’s future. Group hosts conference with Rep. Abel Herrero as guest speaker Jonathan Garcia / Reporter As the fall semester comes to an end, with finals just around the corner, the Student Government Association is helping students prepare. The group will provide free Scantron cards and No. 2 pencils to students for final exams. The SGA hosted the Region 6 conference on Nov. 14-15 at Del Mar College. Writer visits Del Mar, calls new play ‘my best literary effort ever’ Raul Alonzo / Web editor On Nov. 4, award-winning poet and young-adult fiction author Gary Soto visited Del Mar College for a reading in the Richardson Performance Hall. The event was widely attended by Del Mar students and faculty as well as visiting students from local public grade schools. ‘Thor’ sequel a fun superhero film

Lots of action, good performances keep fans entertained Jonathan Garcia / Reporter Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins return to star in the highly anticipated sequel “Thor: The Dark World,” which continues the phase-two storyline of “The Avengers.” Kenneth Branagh, who directed the first film, backs down from the series and Alan Taylor takes over as the director of the sequel. The first “Thor” film entertained audiences, but many people felt some aspects could be improved in the second, and the sequel is a fun superhero film.
