Foghorn gets new look, new editors

Welcome to 2015, Vikings!

You’ll probably notice that the Foghorn has a new look and feel this semester. We’ve switched from a standard broadsheet newspaper to a tabloid size, for myriad reasons.

First and foremost, we hope the new format is more friendly for student readers, who no longer will need to claim an entire table to open the Foghorn. The new size should make it easier to read at your desk or while relaxing between classes, and will easily fit in your bag or back pocket if you want to bring it with you and finish reading it later.

We are printing with the Corpus Christi Caller-Times this semester, which should result in much better print quality for readers than in years past. We are also expanding our partnership with the Caller-Times. You may see some articles or photos from the Caller-Times in the Foghorn, and you may see some of our stories in their newspaper. It’s all part of our goal to keep our fellow students informed about not just the campus, but also what’s happening in the community that might affect students.

We are also trying something new internally this semester. Rather than have an editor-in-chief and managing editor, as in past semesters, we are going to try dual editors-in-chief. Kira Hays, who served as associate editor in the fall, will focus on features and entertainment in her role as co-editor-in-chief. Vivien Sanchez, who was a reporter last semester with the Foghorn, has been promoted to co-editor-in-chief and will focus her efforts on news and other hard-hitting issues.

We can be reached at editor@delmar.edu.

Have a great spring semester, Vikings!
