Professor David Abarca had his hair and beard dyed pink in honor of breast cancer awareness on Sept. 30. He plans to keep his hair dyed throughout October to raise funds.
As one of the American Cancer Society’s Real Men Wear Pink ambassadors, Abarca has personal ties to the cause. The local ACS chapter named Abarca its top fundraiser last March.
The drama department’s upcoming musical performance, “The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee,” excites more than just the cast according to its various student performers. “This is the kind of show where there’s no real fourth wall, so if you’re sitting in the audience, you’ve come to the spelling bee and I’m going to look at you and I’m going to talk to you because I can and do see you,” cast member Mia Dobbins explained.
