You may be through with classes, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t still stuff to learn, including the do’s and dont’s of graduation.
Fall commencement will take place at 7 p.m. Dec. 13 at the American Bank Center. Doors open for guests at 6 p.m. Participating students must arrive no later than 5:45 p.m. in Exhibit Hall B.
STUDENTS
There will be an information session at noon Dec. 13 at the American Bank Center in arena section 109. Caps and gowns are not required at the information session.
Caps and gowns are available for purchase in the DMC Bookstore in the Harvin Center during regular bookstore hours. A cap, gown and tassel set are $32.99 plus tax. Students are permitted to have flat decorations on caps.
The bookstore does not provide cords, ribbons or stoles for honors regalia; you will need to see the individual college organization adviser to get them.
You can order personalized announcements and class rings online at www.dmcbookstore.com. Generic announcements are available at the bookstore for $11.99 plus tax for a pack of 10. Diploma frames are also available for purchase at the bookstore.
GUESTS
The Del Mar College Vikings Alumni has box suites available for graduation. For $250, you can rent a box suite at the American Bank Center for use during the ceremony. Each suite seats 16 people comfortably and a maximum of 21. If you are interested in renting a suite contact Cynthia Arbuckle at 361-698-1031 or atcarbuckle@delmar.edu. Space is limited, so call or email as soon as possible.
Lots 10 and 24 will be reserved for graduates until 5:45 pm. After 5:45 pm they will be open to the public and will require a parking fee. Remind your guests to bring money for parking as all other parking lots will require a parking fee.
Strollers, car seats, monopods, tripods, balloons or outside food or beverages are NOT allowed in the American Bank Center. Visit www.americanbankcenter.com for additional prohibited items.
