Counseling Center holding annual therapy dog event

As the end of the semester approaches, so does the stress and anxiety that comes with finals.

The Del Mar Counseling Center is hosting Paws and Relax Pet Therapy this week at the Windward and Heritage campuses.

The recurring event takes place just before the semester comes to an end.

“Our goal with this event is to provide a space and time where students can take a break and relax, as we know they have been busy throughout the school semester and will be gearing up for finals soon,” said Jessica Edwards with the Counseling Center.

The event will feature The GO TEAM Therapy Dogs to help students deal with the stress of finals. There will also be free anxiety screenings and goodies to help relieve stress.

“Bringing in the therapy dogs is a fun way for the students to do so, and there are many benefits of pet therapy, such as decreasing anxiety and stress,” Edwards said.

The event is open to all students and will take place at the Windward Campus’ Coleman Center, Student Hub, from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 16 and at the Heritage Campus’ Retama Room in the Harvin Center from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 17.
