Corpus Christi hosted the Harlem Globetrotters on February 5, 2024, at the American Bank Center, as one of the many stops on their world tour.
Fans got to experience a unique game of basketball and even got to participate alongside the Globetrotters.
The Harlem Globetrotters took the court against their lifelong rivals, the hapless Washington Generals. While the Generals played their part with vigor in the in this pre-determined pageant, they were, of course, no match for the Globetrotters’ extraordinary trick shots, exceptional ball handling skills, and overall athleticism. Some lucky fans even had the opportunity to join the fun during the game.
When you think of basketball, a word that never comes to mind is comedy. But somehow the Harlem Globetrotters have successfully incorporated the two to deliver a remarkable form of entertainment. It is entertainment that is truly for the whole family and the fan interaction is what makes each game a unique experience. Even if you do not get a chance to participate during the game, there is fan interaction before and after the game where fans can show off their skills and meet the players.
The Harlem Globetrotters not only perform on the court, but also off the court in communities. In August 2023, the “Harlem Globetrotters Goodwill Ambassador Initiative” officially launched. They partner with non-profit and for-profit organizations that are passionate about spreading goodwill and spark change globally in causes such as health and wellness, education and community empowerment. You can watch their goodwill in action on their NBC show “Harlem Globetrotters: Play It Forward” and can stream it on Peacock.
