More than 15 community agencies gathered to shed light on those affected by crime and offer support to victims and their families on Wednesday in the Harvin Center. Journalism students win 50 awards at annual conference Del Mar College journalism students attended the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association Conference in Dallas to compete head to head with colleges all over the state, bringing home a total of 50 awards including Two Year College Reporter of the Year. The annual spring event features competitions and live contests in newspaper, general magazine, radio and television. Food, flair, fun for International Day

Students representing cultures from across the globe came together in the Harvin Center for the annual International Day of Celebration. Some of the many countries represented were Greece, Taiwan, Brazil and the Ukraine. The March 28 event included informational tables displaying the variety of foods, traditions and artifacts specific to each country’s culture. The Harvin Center was loud and lively with drum sounds produced by those representing Brazil. Also included in the event was a traditional Brazilian martial arts dance called Capoeira and a Samba.
