Career Development Office offers career opportunities and networking with other local companies

Jennifer Gonzales has been the director of Career Development since 2019 and still gets goosebumps when she explains what she sees as her favorite part of her job. “The most rewarding part of this job is seeing the career counselors interact with our students and see the students go through every stage of the process,” Gonzales said. Heritage campus works on ‘cat colony program’ for strays on campus

The Physical Facilities Department is drafting plans to have Heritage Campus designated as a cat colony. For years, Heritage Campus has served as home to a number of stray cats. They have found home in the crawlspaces below the buildings and are kept well fed by campus faculty and staff. Over the years, some of them have even earned endearing or humorous names, given to them by their human neighbors. For almost 50 years, the Stone Writing Center has been providing one-on-one writing assistance to Del Mar College students, whether virtually or in-person. The Stone Writing Center offers more than just English course essay help. Staff also assist with resume writing, application essays and even news writing. As finals are approaching at Del Mar College, students may find themselves overwhelmed in their courses. However, the Math Learning Center is always open to assisting all students, not just math majors, free of charge. The Math Learning Center offers a wide variety of resources to students including handouts, TSI preparation, textbooks, calculators, computers, printers, Wi-Fi, and so much more. “A Music Mystery” written and directed by Raphael Rada set to play on Nov. 17

Fall would not be complete without “A Music Mystery,” written and directed by DMC faculty member Raphael Rada partnering with pianist Michael Steele. The show will be at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 17 in Wolfe Recital Hall, 101 Baldwin Blvd. Admission is free. Mariachi Del Mar will perform at 5 p.m. Nov. 10 in the Wolfe Recital Hall in the Fine Arts Center Music Building on the Del Mar College Heritage Campus.  Mariachi Del Mar will be embracing the Cultura Mexicana through their concert directed by Luz Valdez, a Del Mar College adjunct professor. The Welding Applied Technology Program is encouraging high school students, college students and welding professionals to sign up to compete in the second annual Día De Los Muertos Welding Competition. Ethan Sullivan, Del Mar College student and president of Safe Space Club, comes from a split world. In one he feels he can truly be himself, while in the other there are certain limitations. “I come from a more conservative and reserved family who don’t necessarily agree with what I’m doing,” Sullivan said, referring to his involvement in the LGBTQ+ community.
