Dia de Los Muetros held their 16th anniversary festival celebration

The city of Corpus Christi came together on Oct. 28 for the Día de los Muertos Street Festival for their 16th year of celebration. The streets of downtown Corpus Christi were crowded with people celebrating the Mexican tradition of honoring their deceased loved ones. The festival had live music from three stages, a Kids Corner that provided activities for children, various vendors selling their handmade arts and crafts, and food trucks. Mariachi Del Mar set to perform

Free this Friday evening and enjoy Mariachi music? Mariachi Del Mar will perform at 5 p.m. Nov. 10 in the Wolfe Recital Hall in the Fine Arts Center Music Building on the Del Mar College Heritage Campus.  Mariachi Del Mar will be embracing the Cultura Mexicana through their concert directed by Luz Valdez, a Del Mar College adjunct professor. The ensemble will perform a range of styles of Mariachi music including works from famous Mexican singers such as Vicente Fernandez, Lola Beltran and Javier Solis. The concert is free to attend. LPA hosts their 50th anniversary with haunted court room at DMC

Halloween is fast approaching, but for the Legal Professions Association Club, it’s not the only special day this month. According to LPA Vice President Rebecca Farias, the club is celebrating Texas Paralegal Day by hosting a haunted courtroom fundraiser Oct. 23rd. “We’re going to be doing a haunted courtroom and a cotton candy fundraiser in the Harvin Center,” Farias said. First known as Texas Legal Assistants Day in 1993, as declared by the 73rd Legislature, it was later declared as Paralegal Day in 2005 by the Texas House of Representatives. Vocal Vikings set to start competing

Digital media major Jasmine Vasquez was unexpectedly approached one day last year by her professor after delivering her speech on how to make a plush dinosaur. Now, she’s preparing to start her second semester with the Vocal Vikings, Del Mar’s forensics team. “I was very nervous because I had never done it before,” Vasquez said about stepping out of her comfort zone.
