             Joseph Zamudio Sanchez wants to aim for the skies, and he’s doing that by following in his father’s footsteps to become an aviation mechanic.                             Sanchez is currently enrolled in the Del Mar College Aviation Maintenance program, the same program his father completed in the 2010s.             “My father went through the [aviation] program 12 to 13 years ago. Not much crime at DMC

Between 2021 and 2023, crime on Del Mar College campuses remained low according to the college’s 2024 Annual Security and Safety Report. According to the report two crimes were committed on Heritage Campus in 2023 including one burglary and one motor vehicle theft. In addition, two arrests were made on campus including one drug violation and one liquor violation. In 2022 there was one on-campus burglary, one arrest for liquor law violations, and one weapons violation resulting in disciplinary action. Del Mar Fall Intramural Sports Have Begun

Del Mar College fall intramurals officially began in August, but new sports tournaments have only just started. The Culinary Arts Program Offers Gourmet Lunch Services to the Public at Del Mar College’s Oso Creek Campus.  Del Mar College’s Oso Creek Campus is offering a weekly lunch service to the public, prepared by students in the Culinary Arts Program.  The service takes place every Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., on the first floor of the Hospitality and Culinary Institute at the Oso Creek Campus.  According to Jennifer Sramek, Dean of Business, Entrepreneurship, and Health Sciences, “Meals are available to the first 100 guests on a limited basis, with a maximum of two to-go meals per person.” …

Maria Mata, Spanish Lab Coordinator with Del Mar College, demonstrated the simplicity of making flour tortillas from scratch to a full house during a Hispanic Heritage Month event at the Coles Classroom Building on Heritage Campus Oct. 10. The annual Texas Community College Journalism  conference was an exhilarating experience for aspiring journalists from across the state. Small Business Development Center Helps Food-Trailer Expand into Brick-and-Mortar

Martin Flores, the owner of Marty McPies, was introduced to the Del Mar College Small Business Development Center by a friend while building his then-food trailer. In January 2021, business advisor Mike Thompson helped Flores start operating a legal food trailer business. In 2023, Flores returned to SBDC because he wanted to expand his business. Business advisor Theresa Moffit helped the entrepreneur organize his business expenses and paperwork to get a loan for his restaurant. Del Mar College’s Speech Communication Center is Open for the Semester

The fear of public speaking is the most common phobia ahead of death, according to the National Social Anxiety Center. Del Mar students can help alleviate that fear and get extra help by using the Speech Communication Center on the Heritage Campus.
