Suicide tends to be a taboo topic that society tries to avoid as it brings up heavy and uncomfortable feelings. However, these conversations are key to bringing awareness to spotting and preventing decisions during times of temporary emotional distress. Event helps students reduce stress as semester nears end With final exams coming up, the Counseling Center found a way to alleviate some of the stress in the lives of DMC students. The Go Team Therapy dogs of Corpus Christi provided qualified therapy dogs free of charge for students and staff at Heritage Campus on April 20, as well as the previous day at Windward Campus. Counseling Center offers help through pandemic

Virtual services available for students Del Mar’s Counseling Center is still offering services by providing virtual appointments for students.  Jessica Edwards, a counselor for the center, said they made changes to the services after the college switched to remote learning.  “We have been able to switch over to virtual and that is whether we are offering our services through Zoom or Skype,” Edwards said. “Because students are not able to walk into our doors, we have created a virtual walk-in.” Students can access the appointment link at www.delmar.edu/offices/counseling.  “You fill out the information it requests, select a time, and a…
