Greetings! Having been a volunteer at various organizations practically my entire life, it feels only natural to start a blog about it. This week, the spotlight is on the Gulf Coast Humane Society. They are the local no-kill animal shelter, but without help, they cannot stay a no-kill shelter. The animals they save are not responsible for their circumstances, but certainly have to pay the price of those circumstances. Can they count on you to help?

The Collaboratory celebrates its 1,000th student for October Title V STEM Collaboratory Tutoring Center has celebrated its 1,000th student for the month of October. Freshman Madysn Lira, the 1,000th student, regularly attends the tutoring center at least an hour every day for help for her chemistry class. Middle schoolers get Del Mar experience
50 Martin students focus on theater, design, science Nearly 50 seventh- and eighth-graders made their way from Martin Middle School to Del Mar College’s East Campus to get a closer look at the college experience and some of the programs offered on Sept. 30. Stone Writing Center hits 10,000 student visits
Thanks to a heavy emphasis on technology and a semester filled with workshops, the Stone Writing Center has exceeded 10,000 visits from students this semester. “We’re very proud of that, and we feel it,” said Margot Sorrell, who works at the center, aka The Fourth. “We’ve been so extremely busy. We have students here when we open up to when we close the doors.” Because of the increased demand in both in-person and online tutoring sessions conducted through Canvas, the writing center also plans to offer Twilight Tutoring as students get ready for finals.
