Campus Dining and Student Life teamed up to host the annual Student Appreciation Day on March 11 in the Harvin Center to show Del Mar College students how much they matter. The menu included free hot dogs, chips, watermelon, lemonade and water.

“Student Appreciation Day is to let the students know how much they are appreciated, and the faculty and staff enjoy the opportunity to mingle with the students to wish them a safe spring break,” said Food Service Manager Leon Rodriguez, who has been part of the event for 29 years.

David Davila, who became a new member of the Del Mar staff in September 2014, was pleased to be invited to join other members of the staff in serving students.

“The event gives me an opportunity to meet students,” said Davila, who serves as director of purchasing.

About 250 hot dogs were served at the event, staff said.
