A demolition crew begins tearing down the Corner Market. The property was purchased for $550,000. It is located by the CED building on South Staples Street.
In August 2015 the Board of Regents approved the purchase of property at 3201 S. Staples St. for plans to clean up the area. The property, near the college’s Center for Economic Development at the corner of South Staples and Kostoryz, was once a gas station and convenience store.
The location was worn down and had broken-down vehicles overgrown grass and old tires.
The property was purchased for $550,000. The cleanup work was expected to cost $150,000 to $200,000.
