The Del Mar College Department of Continuing Education hosted a Health Care Job Fair. The event was the 1st of many more to come.

The fair was held at the Center for Economic Development on Thursday Nov 21.

The event was coordinated by Continuing Education to help their students find jobs for the positions they are looking for such as, phlebotomists, ECG/EKG technicians, CNA, and patient care. The event was also open to the community.

“Everyone who came actually found opportunities,” said Rebecca Salinas, the Career Training Coordinator for Continuing Education.

There were over 10 different companies from a variety of different medical fields at the event looking for future employees.

APC Home Health Service, a home health care service for Medicare and Medicaid patients was at the event. APC was looking for home providing attendants.

“I like that everyone here is interested in coming up to us and asking questions,” said Maria Cervantes, Community Liaison, “I like to give information to the individuals to help them see there is people out here in the community that can give them opportunities.”

Courtney Elliott, a business major at Del Mar, heard about the event on Facebook. “The event was very helpful. They didn’t only have medical positions, they had some business positions,” said Elliott. “I’ve never worked in the medical field before but, now I’m looking towards it.”
